Temper is a one-smith shop, deliberately: every blade that carries the Temper mark is forged, ground, and heat-treated on this site by the same hands, from bar stock to finished edge. We do not rebrand blanks or outsource heat treatment to a production shop — the steel program listed on a blade’s spec sheet is the steel program that blade was actually built from.
Every listing states the steel, the Rockwell hardness it was tempered to, the blade length, and the edge geometry, because those four facts explain more about how a knife will actually perform than a paragraph about craftsmanship ever will. The craftsmanship comes after, as the reason those choices came out consistent — not as a substitute for stating them.
We run one coal forge and one power hammer, which means every billet is drawn out and folded by hand-eye judgment on each individual pass, not a programmed press cycle. Slower than a shop running hydraulic dies, but it puts a direct hand on where every fold lands, on every single billet, not just a sampled few.
