4.5″ of 52100, scandi ground — a single flat bevel running from about a third of the way up the blade straight to the edge with no secondary bevel — which is the geometry we default to on field knives because it’s the easiest profile to resharpen on a flat stone with no jig, a real consideration for a knife meant to leave the shop.
52100’s chromium content earns its keep here: it holds an edge through hide and connective tissue noticeably longer than a plain 1080/1084 blade at the same hardness, without the chip-prone brittleness a higher-alloy stainless can show at a comparable 61–62 HRC. Full tang construction, canvas Micarta scales pinned and epoxied — Micarta over wood on a hunting knife specifically because it won’t absorb moisture or blood in the way even stabilized wood eventually will under repeated field use.
